Between May 2015 and January 2016, I expanded my animal research background by volunteering at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). I used behavioral observation to analyze social learning and cognitive mechanisms in capuchin monkeys through a nut cracking task. I also collected dominance data, and I coded data in a yawning study, a preferential looking study, and a novel object task. I was able to observe research with macaque monkeys, but the majority of the work I did there was with capuchin monkeys.
